The forums for the Open Space and Leisure Services Strategic Plan have now closed. Council would like to thank all the community members that participated in these forums for taking the time to provide feedback.

The feedback received from the community through the online forums, community workshops and surveys is now being considered and collated. An update will be provided on the progress of the development of the strategy as it becomes available.

Community Consultation Notes

A major component of the development of the Dogs in Open Spaces Strategy has been to gain community feedback on the broad issues associated with dog exercise areas within the Gosford Local Government Area. A variety of means have been used to gather this information including the staging of community workshops held at Umina Surf Life Saving Club on 29 February 2012 and the Erina Centre on 1 March 2012.

Both workshops were well attended with a variety of opinions and ideas discussed. A summary of the discussions held at both workshops can be found within the library on the left hand side of this page.

Updates will continue to be provided on the progress of the development of the Dogs in Open Spaces Strategy as various milestones are reached.

Umina TMAP & Civic Place Masterplan...have your say!

Gosford City Council is presently undertaking two important planning studies for the Umina Beach Village Centre.

A Transport Management and Accessibility Plan that will help us better manage traffic, parking, public transport and pedestrian and bicycle movements within the Umina Village Centre and surrounding area.
A Masterplan for the Civic Place precinct that will look at opportunities for the creation of modern community facilities and a civic focal point for Umina.

Interested members of the community are encouraged to have your say about traffic issues within the Umina Beach area and how the Civic Place project could best meet community needs now and into the future.

Dogs in Open Spaces Strategy Update

Community consultation for the development of the Dogs in Open Space Areas Strategy finished on 14 March 2012. Council would like to take this opportunity to thank all community members that provided feedback and attended workshops on this matter. Collation and consideration of feedback from the surveys, workshops and online forums is now underway.

Once completed, a draft document will be placed on exhibition for public comment. At this time the local community will once again be able to provide feedback on the proposed strategy.

It is anticipated that public exhibition will occur around May/June 2012. The exhibition of the document, including timeframes for submissions, will be advertised in the Central Coast Express Advocate in the Public Notices section of the paper.

During the public exhibition period the draft document will be available electronically within the library section of this page, Council's website www.gosford.nsw.gov.au and at Council's Customer Service Centres.

The Dogs in Open Spaces discussion forum and quick survey have now closed. You are able to review all comments but no new comments or survey responses will be accepted. You will also still be able to access documents from the project libary at any time.

Phase 2 Workshop: Thursday 3 May 2012

This will involve the presentation of proposed solutions. A workshop will be held for the community to give their views. Potential solutions will then be presented to Council.

In 2003 Gosford City Council adopted the Dog Exercise Areas Policy in response to community demand for a formalised approach to the provision of dog off leash areas within the Gosford Local Government Area. As this Policy is now due for review, Council would like to hear from residents and visitors to ensure a broad community perspective is considered during the development of the Dogs in Open Spaces Strategy.

Draft Gosford Strategic Parking Study

The purpose of the Strategic Parking Study is to provide Gosford City Council with guiding principles for the management of parking within the Gosford City Centre into the future and to review the Council's current car parking provision rates.

A large proportion of open space areas are under the management of Gosford City Council including natural reserves, mountains, bushlands, beaches, wetlands, foreshores, estuaries, active recreation areas (including a number of sports grounds, skate parks and associated facilities) and passive recreation areas (including parks and playgrounds).

To ensure the long term sustainability of these areas and facilities, Council is currently in the process of developing a strategic plan that will provide direction for the provision and management of open space areas, recreation facilities and leisure programs to accommodate current and future community needs. Have your say and help develop the strategy in our online discussion forum.

Gosford City Council is currently undertaking the Terrigal Parking Study to determine whether current parking meets existing and future demand. The study will recommend ways to provide parking to cater for anticipated growth over the next 25 years.
