I don't think we should "minimise" pollution - zero is the minimum and you can only achieve that by stopping people living here. We need an optimum amount of pollution, based on people paying for the pollution they cause. Where appropriate, Council can collect the appropriate charge and dispose of the pollution.

What does Gosford Council do to showcase our natural environment? Why not arrange and employ local Aboriginal people to start guided tours in our surrounding National Parks, that would also attract tourism to our area......now there is a good idea.....act upon it !!
Gosford Council could organise several trays of native plants (seedlings) to be distributed to all the local schools on the Central Coast. Great way to get the local kids involved in the natural environment...another great idea.....act upon it !!
These initiatives should be planned and included in your budget, however, they are very cost effective and should be acted upon now.

A clear message that came out of the forum was a clear need for those in power to make decisions based on sustainability into the future and not what will win a popularity contest right now. This includes local govt. There needs to be vision and guts involved in decisions that will protect the area for the future generations.
We should be at the forefront of encouraging sustainable businesses into our area as well as ensuring that building standards are to the highest practice of enviro sustainability, including more help with water tanks, etc we have a high enough rainfall in more…

The question of minimising pollution begs a look at the proposal to scuttle an ex naval vessel off Avoca beach.
Despite assurances from the State Government that the large quantities of paint and plastics remaining on the ship will be OK in the marine environment there must be a feeling in all of us that is not the right thing to do. This alien material will eventually be released into the ocean.
The tried and true call of ' we need the money and jobs' has been trotted out to ally the fears of those who question the sanity of this possible environmental disaster.
